Lucy Mendez

Lucy started out as a dedicated educator in mathematics and computer science, which ignited her passion for problem-solving and analytical thinking. Understanding the crucial role of financial expertise in business success, Lucy went back to school for a professional certificate in accounting from the UH Shidler College of Business, blending her mathematical background with financial principles.

Lucy has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and over eight years of professional accounting experience. She started her accounting career in a mid-size health insurance company based in Hawaii and then worked as a consultant for various small businesses. Most recently, she worked in the accounting and finance team at a software as a service company based in New York and D.C.  Lucy has a broad skill set, including month-end close processes, account reconciliation, balance sheet and income statement reviews, and managing prepaid expenses. She enjoys utilizing her teaching experience to clarify complex accounting concepts for clients, fostering informed decision-making. She is dedicated to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.

Lucy lives in west Texas with her husband and daughter. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys traveling with her family and working on engineering projects with her daughter.
